Warm, printable, hands-on lessons in the fuller story: the substance a rewritten curriculum leaves out. A supplement to public school, never a replacement.
Pith is the heart of the matter. It's also the white layer inside citrus that people peel off and throw away, even though it's the part that holds the whole fruit together. That's the promise: the overlooked substance underneath the surface. And Pith is a supplement: it runs alongside public school, never instead of it.
A Pith packet isn't a worksheet to skim: it's something a kid works through with their hands. They cut out cards, draw what they picture, match and sort, fill things in, and finish with a keepsake to keep or hang up. The making is the learning: an idea sticks when you build it yourself. Every packet is designed to print at home and be done at the kitchen table.
Kids don't just make a craft. They learn where it comes from, why it matters to the people who created it, and how to honor it. That's the opposite of appropriation: real context, taught with care.
We'll be honest about the backdrop: Pith grew out of a political moment. Some states are cutting real material from the curriculum: context, counter-arguments, whole parts of the story. We build a lesson for each thing that gets left out.
But the packets themselves are never political. They don't take a side, argue a view, or name a party. They simply teach what was removed, fairly and in full, and let kids reason for themselves. The cuts we're patching are happening in conservative states, so we're starting with Texas. Some packets apply anywhere, and we'll expand to other states as their curricula change too.
Any parent or teacher who wants a kid to get the fuller story. Packets span the grades, not just the early years.
